The plane landed safely & J.C.Sum & Babe Ning are now at the hotel where they will be staying, in the lead up to the Southern England Magic Convention.

Hello everyone, it is with a very heavy heart, that I have to announce the END of FREE POSTAGE.

As you know for the last seven years we have paid the postage for you, on any size order.

We've had so many problems of late with Royal Mail, that we can no longer afford to do the FREE POSTAGE (items go missing ALL THE TIME) & our customers expect us to replace the items & pay the postage a second time, which we simply can ill afford to do.)

Only last week, an item went missing (a box of Mouth Coils) priced at £9.00 (I paid £1.62 to post them!) I was threatened in an email by the purchaser "I want my money back or a replacement within 24 hours, you've had my money, I want my purchase!"
I can do without all that for a £9.00 item! (Incidentally it turns out that the person hadn't lived at the address he gave me for OVER A YEAR!!!) I had a massive row with someone who phoned on his behalf, I got very stressed out, & ended up telling them where to go! I will NEVER again allow myself to get into that type of situation...... EVER!

The Postage costs now being calculated at check out on this site are VERY VERY LOW, & I will not be making any extra from it, it will just assist me in sending items a different way, because I am turning into a wreck, regarding the items that strangely "Get Lost" etc................

The postage on (say) a £55.00 item will come out at £2.75 which is a mere FRACTION of what it will actually cost to send! If you were to order only a pack of Bicycle Cards (at £3.00) then it would cost you £3.60 (the shipping rate on a small order will be higher!)To send a pack of cards actually costs me over a £1 to send in the U.K. & even more overseas, when you factor in Commisions to Paypal/Credit cards, padded envelopes, cellotape, labels etc etc, I think (hope!) you get the point!The postage costs are calculated so that a bigger order pays very little!

The "Postage Contribution" goes TOWARDS the cost. Having that small contribution will allow me to send the item "Signed For" (in the U.K) which gives me piece of mind (also the customer) that the item can be tracked. On bigger orders, I'll still send by Special Delivery or even Courier, at no additional charge to you.

Regarding Overseas Orders, the shipping will be the same calculated rate as per on this website, viewable at CHECKOUT (same rate as the U.K) UNLESS stated otherwise in the product description(some heavy items will display an EXTRA charge on top of the rate calculated at checkout, but this only applies to overseas orders).

I've been so nervous of late regarding virtually everything I send by Royal mail, that I've been paying the extra for "Signed for" ON TOP of the actual Postage! (sometimes I've even paid for Special Delivery or Courier out of my own pocket, which is even more expensive!) The Post Office in the U.K (at the moment) seem to be on an Unofficial Go Slow & generally "Messing things up" on purpose. First Class signed for, for instance, has taken FOUR DAYS & sometimes longer to reach there destinations!

On big orders I will still use next day courier service in the U.K.
At no additional cost to you, the customer.

I will continue to despatch items the best possible way for you, & use the "Postage Contribution" in a way that benefits YOU the customer, my customers really do come first, but I guess if you deal with me, you already know that!

In the past, when something had gone missing in the post, the customer would often come back to me & say "Of course you can track it can't you?" & I've replied "Well of course it could have been tracked, if YOU had paid extra for that service!" (but mostly people didn't want to pay, because "The Postage was FREE!") & so of course it's MY FAULT when things go missing! so I've had to take these steps. which I sincerely regret doing, but it really will benefit us all!

To compensate you the customer for the small contribution towards the postage, every customer will now get a FREE MAGIC GIFT valued at much MORE than the postage contribution paid!!!!

YES! EVERY CUSTOMER will get FREE MAGIC, valued at MUCH MORE than the postage cost!!!

So with every order comes a nice surprise as well, now that's Magic!

The FREE gift won't be rubbish either! we are very very overstocked here, we have 1000's of items!

I can afford to decrease the stock levels to make more room for incoming items!

Incidentally the Postage Structure is as follows:

Order 0.01 - £9.99 worth of goods pay 30% Postage (eg order a pack of cards at £3.00 postage = 90p

Order £10.00 - £24.99 worth of goods pay 15% postage

Order £25.00 -£74.99 worth of goods pay 10% postage

Order £75.00 - £149.99 worth of goods pay 5% postage

There are many, many delightful Ken Brooke interludes that will take old timers down memory lane, and which will inspire relative newcomers to magic as well..

It is all here from the Chinese Linking Rings KB ring count to the KB Coin Box plus many of the tricks featured over the years in the Unique Studio catalogues. As a very special bonus Patrick Page also allowed Martin to include some sound material. This was filmed just before Ken died.

The sound material filmed by Vic Pinto and Patrick Page includes Chase the Ace and The Chop Cup routine and even the wonderful Bucks & Does. Oh what a treat awaits every viewer!

U.F. Grant was a very established company going way back when, Gen was a very famous performer & inventor, He was in fact a real pioneer, both in the invention and marketing of magic.

I urge you to stay calm amidst all of the unimaginable pressure that you must be under.

The Weirdling: Michael Weber has taken a stack of those coffee cards you get at your favorite local java joint and flipped them inside out. Comes with your own special coffee cards.

Ripped and Fryed: Charlie Frye has come up with the most incredible Torn And Restored Technology to date! Whether you play with this in the mirror or on the town, you will love doing this!

Water Trap: Bro Gilbert's unimaginably cool new approach to Doug Bennett's signed- coin- in- matchbook plot. A genuine breakthrough new method that allows you to improv the prep with a normal matchbook in ten seconds!

Dunn's Deal: Shaun Dunn presents his version of Galaxy. This time, the spectator is shuffling her whole way through the entire effect. Just when they think it's all over... you tell her to shuffle again.

TA Pen. Having fun yet? This 9th and final DVD includes a special PH custom gimmick which will not be available separately for quite a while.

What is the TA pen? It's a new gimmick that makes immaculately clean bill changes, switches, and animations. Everything about the pen is self-contained and can even be handled and used as a normal pen by spectators.

If you thought this is all enough to keep you busy for a couple of years, you'd be right. But there is one last final thing on DVD 9: Paul's very own Angel Cake.

Firstly, I'd like to thank each & every one of you for your support over the last eight years of trading. I really do appreciate your custom, which I feel I have worked hard to gain.

Review by Mike Danata:

The show at the London Palladium last Sunday night 28th Sept 2008, in honour of Siegfried & Roy was very professional in it's slickness of production (fast moving, & virtually no dead spots) with an excellent compere in Jeff Hobson (who also performed his own spot, with Egg bag, Card In Mouth, & Watch Stealing) along with some of the very best performers in the world.

A very slick overture by the Magicares Big Band, leading in to the introduction of Kalin & Jinger, with their big illusions. which included a flaming spikes through girl, with the vanish of the girl & reappearance in the audience. Russ Stevens made a cameo appearance (having been pulled from the audience) checking the Sawing In Half Box!

The Great Tomsoni & Co with his gum chewing assistant were as funny as ever!

Luis De Matos, with his Sands Of The Desert routine, which I think I once saw Doug Henning perform, where the water turns black & then back to clear again at the end. This was very beautifully performed, I just wished that you couldn't buy the coloured sands that stay dry when immersed in water, in so many toy shops!


Vik & Fabrini did their "Robotic" type act that many of us had seen at Blackpool, as effective as ever!

Wally Eastwood "Probably" stole the show, billed as the "Fastest hands on earth" his juggling was definitely the fastest I had ever seen, truly incredible, & his playing of a classical piece of music by dropping juggling balls onto an electronic keyboard was truly astounding, as was his quick wit, & fantastic personality, you couldn't help but love him! He received a fantastic ovation from the enthusiastic audience.

At the beginning of the above paragraph, I stated that Wally "Probably" stole the show, but to be honest every other act "Probably" stole the show as well! (if that can make any sense!!) EVERY act was a showstopper, it really was an excellent line-up.

A twenty minute interval followed, & then it was back to the Magicares Big Band, followed by the Sheer Artistry that is Norm Nielson, a truly wonderful act that has taken him all around the world. Vanishing Flute, Misers Dream with the "Tinkling" coin ladder, & the incomparable Floating & "Playing" Violin. A wonderful wonderful act, that is as fresh today as it was when it was first introduced to the world, many many years ago.

Jason Byrne, did his incredible Bird/Manipulative act, with some of the slickest productions you'll ever see, culminating in the production of a duck! which certainly drew the gasps.

Ben Stone (the son of Paul) wrote a special song for Magicares called "When Magic Cares, Miracles happen" he sang this with the big band backing him, it was both catchy & moving, a perfect song for such a perfect event.

Raymond Crow followed with a very novel routine with a spectator's borrowed jacket where it flew, danced & floated around the stage! Absolutely wonderful. He finished his set with the hand shadows act that has received millions of hits on youtube, & clinched him an appearance on the Royal Variety Show. There is something truly "Magical" about this act that evokes such an emotional reaction from an audience, there were many OOh's & Ahh's from the audience during the performance, again a fantastic act.

Soul Mystique were the last act on stage, with their incredible quick change/dance act, very visual & spectacular drawing the gasps from the audience during their set.

Interspersed throughout the show were filmed tributes to Siegfried & Roy by such people as Cher, Sir Anthony Hopkins & Steve Wynn, plus many live tributes as well from the stage, including amongst others, Lynette Chappell who was their leading Lady (The Evil Queen) in the show for many years.

The most moving tribute was delivered by Steve Wynn, who had built the Mirage Hotel for Siegfried & Roy's show in Vegas, stating very clearly the love from Siegfried & Roy's friends & indeed their love & support for each other. It was all very emotional & moving...............

The evening concluded with the awaited appearance from both Siegfried Roy who both received prolonged standing ovations from the audience.

Siegfried did most of the talking (to begin with!) then Roy gestured for the microphone to say his bit, although a little slurred in his speech, he was perfectly understandable. Siegfried took the Mic back from Roy, & Roy almost "Snatched" it back to the delight of the audience, he was unstoppable!!! (perhaps he had lessons from Ken Dodd!) it was all very moving & emotional, I have to admit that I couldn't hold back the tears. I saw the same courage, determination, & strength in my dear Mum during her battle with cancer. Siegfried & Roy took several curtain calls at the end, & Roy kept walking back to centre stage, it became very amusing as he walked on & off continuously, almost as if to just prove to us that he could indeed walk!!!! (he was told at one point that he would never walk again)

Roy is a very strong person on all levels, but it is his INNER STRENGTH that is so amazing, & tonight we witnessed that Magical Inner Strength.

This was a truly memorable occasion, that will forever live in the minds of everyone who attended. Proving yet again that the magic still lives, & that Siegfried & Roy are indeed Masters Of The Impossible!

With heartfelt thanks to Paul Stone & the team, for making this show happen, you certainly gave us a night to remember forever!

I have now purchased all the remaining stocks held by Repro, plus copyrights to many books & tricks that were still held by the company. So although the Repro Rabbit in the logo, appears to be waving "Goodbye" he's actually saying "Hi!" as he moves from London to Bournemouth!

A little of Repro Magic will live alongside Mike Danata's Magic Studio, as we reintroduce some real gems of magic, that just may have been forgotten about! (especially with so many "New" items coming out these days, on an almost daily basis.)

This was the best trick I ever bought from REPRO! it was the mainstay of my act for over 30 years, I'd burn the spectator's money at the beginning of the act, send him back to his seat without it, then I performed a lot of magic to the "Value" of the money that was "Accidently burned" I'd even get the spectator to confirm the value of each trick as I performed it, until we got to the actual value of the borrowed note!!

The act then climaxed with the reproduction of the same note from a sealed envelope, from within my wallet, as the money was passed back to the spectator,to conclude my performance.

Hi! this is Mike Danata with some latest gossip about the "Southern England Magic Convention" which takes place next Jan (31st!) at Lakeside Country Club. Collin Richardson (pictured) who is one of the organisers, has been working very hard to get this MAJOR event together, for the benefit of all magicians & lovers of magic. Collin had built a dedicated website, with the sole purpose of promoting the event. The website was due to go live last weekend to coincide with the news story about the convention that was broken on www.magicweek.co.uk (Duncan Trillo's EXCELLENT website)UNFORTUNATELY due to server problems with 1&1 the website was not up & running to coincide with the story, so the link to the website was pulled. The website had been up & running all week since then (although few people actually knew about it!) This weeks magicweek was to contain further information about the convention, with a link to the dedicated website, with all the exciting news etc. Banner advertising was also taken out with magicweek, plus exciting news about a competition OPEN TO ALL, with a prize of FOUR NIGHTS in Las Vegas, plus a Cup for the winner!!

The banner ad & further info duly appeared on magicweek early this morning (Sat 15th March) HOWEVER due to the problems with the server, the Southern England Magic Convention website was DOWN again, for the second week running!!! So the story was taken off, & the dead link to the website was also removed.

1&1 (the server company) seem to have problems EVERY WEEKEND, so you can imagine how frustrating all this is for the organisers of the convention. All will soon be resolved no doubt, & as more info becomes available, you will appreciate that despite these early problems (which are nothing to do with the organisers), the Convention will prove to be a huge success.

We had a party for Mum at the hospice on the 8th Oct (she was 75) & she amazed everyone!

(see pics above taken at the party)

Doctors are truly astounded by her.

Going back to Sept 24th (the day before my Birthday) I had a phone call from the hospital & was told that she had hours to live, & she probably wouldn't survive the night. I immediately went to be with her at Treliske Hospital in Truro. I had no idea if I would get there in time, it's about three & a half hours away.

I stayed with her for a week, sat beside her in a plastic chair.

I arrived only to find out that she had fallen out of the bed onto the floor, because no one had put the sides up on the bed! Bearing in Mind that she was originally admitted suffering from confusion, I find this very difficult to deal with. Mum has been VERY WELL cared for since she moved to Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell, she hadn't once planned an ESCAPE!

You may recall, that I came back to Bournemouth for two days, to catch up with the mail order, & also to open for my regular customers, well when I went back to Mum at the hospice, I discovered that she hadn't eaten much whilst I was away, & she looked white as a ghost & was very cold to the touch, Of course I regretted coming back to Bournemouth. However within Five hours of getting back to her, her colour came back, she warmed up, & I cajoled her into eating again. Since that time, EVERY DAY she seems to have gotten better. On Monday the 8th Oct (her Birthday) she even WALKED to the lounge for her party, & she was as bright as a button, & really really HAPPY.

A few days ago I began to wonder if there had been a mix up with the scan results (she has brain tumours & cancer all over her body "APPARENTLY!") & I discussed this with a friend privately.The day after I discussed this, my step dad brought up the same possibility, On Monday (8th oct) I brought it up with the doctor, who looked at other specialists and nurses, & asked "The date of birth & year was checked wasn't it?" to which someone replied "Yes it was" to which he replied "In that case I don't think that this could have happened" he then continued telling me that he had seen the scan results, & she has six pockets (I think that was what he said) on the brain, plus cancer throughout the stomach & lungs. They have taken her off all medication except paracetamol & the heart patch. She MAY be going home (which is what she wants) NEXT WEEK!!!

Mum was (as the doctor put it) "As happy as Larry!!" on her Birthday & she really was, it was a very happy Party, with her laughing & joking, & she managed to stay awake the whole time, where normally in the afternoons, she just sleeps. I've no idea how she did it, but it was absolutely WONDERFUL!!!!!

She has been taken off all medication apart from Parecetamol, which she was knocking back with a glass of sherry at the party!!! (good for her!)

She saw a Physio on the morning of her birthday, who talked about getting her walking again, with the aid of a zimmer, to get her legs strong enough to be able to go home. We were in the lounge, sorting out the balloons & food etc, Mum was sat on the chair in her room on her own, the nurses planned on bringing her through in a wheel chair at the appropriate time. The next thing I realised was that she was sat on a chair OUTSIDE the lounge WAITING TO GO IN!!!!!!! I told her we were not ready for her, as it was meant to be a surprise, & if she stayed where she was, she would see her guests as they passed her, & it would ruin the surprise! SO SHE WALKED ALL THE WAY BACK TO HER ROOM!!!!!!!! WITHOUT A ZIMMER, (because she hasn't got one YET!!!!)

How can you not believe in Magic, when this sort of thing happens? !!!!!!!

I've come back to Bournemouth for a few days (at the suggestion of the Doctor) he says that now is a good time, because she is doing so well. Of course I will go back straight away, if things start to slide. When recently I asked Mum each day, how she felt on a scale of 1 - 10 each time she replied "ELEVEN!!"

I pray that the Miracle continues......................

Meantime, it's business as usual at the Magic Studio!

I intend to visit Mum on Sunday 13th Oct, (hopefully coming back the same day, so should be back to work on Monday) IF anything happens in the meantime & I have to whizz down to be with her, then I will not have time to change this message on the website, I would however "spit!" a few words into the answerphone (01202 391666) so all up to date information would be available by ringing that number.

WOW... I just got done previewing an advanced copy of Reel Magic DVD Magazine. Basically it is a quarterly magazine on DVD produced by Ted Brainard (aka Kozmo). The first issue has now hit the market. It is LOADED (and I do mean loaded) with great interviews (Paul Harris, Harry Lorayne, John Lovick, etc.), tricks (Dan Tong, Paul Potassy, John Lovick), tips (Garrett Thomas), reviews of product (Wayne Kawamoto and David Regal - you get to SEE items/clips of items discussed), video ads, etc. all for £5/issue. This should be an absolute NO brainer for you to purchase. It is wonderful in production, contents, historical info (from the interviews... including RARE footage of Vlado - the creator of the bill switch). The Paul Harris interview alone is worth many many times the price of admission as Paul touches on lots of interesting and some possibly controversial subjects (REALLY listen and think about what Paul says). I know issue two and three are already well under way with some superb surprises. I truly believe Reel Magic DVD Magazine will become a staple publication that you will want every issue of. HIGHLY recommended.

A pack of cards has been spread on the table. Next to the pack of cards is a matchbox containing a miniature playing card. The spectator is now asked to choose any one of the 53 cards in the pack and to name it aloud so that there is no possibility that he can change his mind.

Wouldn't it be an absolute miracle if the little playing card in the sealed matchbox is an exact duplicate of the playing card that has just been freely named?

An absolute KILLER that will fool the best of them and utterly amaze the rest!

No close-up psychic prediction test surpasses this one in impact, simplicity of execution and believability...

As I describe this little miracle to you, without any exaggeration, keep in mind that presentation and revelation possibilities are limited only by your imagination. Here is an example of the type of powerhouse routine Shufton's Miracle Premonition will provide for your arsenal:

Effect: The performer, while making no claims, explains the idea of psychic premonition - that it might actually be possible to accurately predict an event that has yet to take place. To demonstrate, the performer shows a mini playing card (just the back!) to be used as the prediction of a card the spectator has yet to select. (Instead of a mini playing card, the performer may openly write a prediction on a slip of paper to be folded and left in full view). The prediction might be put in a small envelope, or a rubber-banded matchbox (my favorite) or simply left in full view face down on the table. One way or another, the prediction is left in full view on the table (or a spectator's pocket!), and the performer emphasizes that it will not be touched again.

A deck of cards is removed from the card box and ribbon spread on the table, or spread between the hands. The cards are initially spread face down, as the performer explains that a magician will typically ask a spectator to select a card from a face down deck, and that this approach is hardly fair! After all, without seeing the cards, the spectator has no way of knowing if it was a free selection. The cards might all be the same, or the magician may be able to use some sort of trickery to influence the spectator in his choice!

The cards are scooped up again and re-spread FACE UP. The performer explains that by doing it this way, there is no conceivable way that the spectator could be lulled into selecting any particular card. He emphasizes that as the spectator can see, all 52 cards are there, and even a joker, so the spectator truly has a free choice of absolutely any card in the deck. The performer states that he will indeed try to influence the selection, but only by sending a mental picture of the card he has predicted. The images of the cards spread on the table are very helpful for that. He asks the spectator to very carefully look over all the cards, and whenever she feels that she has arrived at the card she wants to select, she should simply name it.

The spectator indicates a decision has been made and the cards are gathered up. The spectator is asked to name the card and look at it once more so there can be absolutely no mistake that the card she names and the card she saw are definitely the same card - she can still change her mind one last time! The cards are boxed and set back on the table.

With hands in full sight and no false moves of any kind, the matchbox is picked up and the rubber band removed. The spectator admits that the box has never been out of her sight. The hands are shown empty BEFORE the drawer is removed. The drawer is pushed open, and the miniature card is shaken out onto the table - the performer never touches it. The spectator verifies that nothing else is in the box and nothing went in or came out of it since it was originally sealed.

The spectator is invited to turn the card over with no interference from the performer. Guess what? The miniature card PERFECTLY MATCHES THE RANDOM AND FREE SELECTION!

OK. Isn't this one of the most cherished scenarios amongst us who do these mystical things? YES! But this amazing effect has some advantages worth considering:

This effect is completely self contained. It can be done anytime, anywhere, in short sleeves, and NO POCKET WORK. The hands and props NEVER LEAVE the SPECTATOR'S SIGHT. The spectator truly has a completely free choice of any of the cards, and the deck is full, including a joker with no duplicates. The choice is really free! NO FORCES of any kind!

Nothing extra is needed or used. Resets in a few seconds. No memory work. Easy to do and an absolute killer that will fool the wisest ones! Use a matchbox, an envelope or do it with no cover at all! Many revelations are included in the 32 page booklet!
